Rogers joined the staff of the then University of Natal in 1981, and is responsible for all technical and equipment matters in the department. Rogers’ responsibilities range from designing and constructing stage sets, to sourcing and creating properties for productions, to technical set ups for lectures and seminars, to supervision of the technical aspects of Honours productions. Rogers notes that every production in the department over the years has brought its own specific challenges, but also that those challenges have excited the students involved and given them opportunities to perform and to participate, which have proved invaluable.

Bemil joined UKZN in 2009 and works in two areas in the Drama and Performance Studies department: as the Departmental Librarian and Wardrobe Mistress. Bemil manages the department’s Florence Powell Collection, our research library, where she is responsible for cataloguing of new acquisitions, liaising with postgraduate students around loans of books, managing the reserve materials for departmental courses, and co-ordinating with the main University Library. In the Wardrobe, she assists with costumes for productions and creative projects in the department, as well as managing the day to day running of the wardrobe and the hiring out of costumes. Bemil is often the most well-known face in the department because of her constant interactions with the students, and her kindness and generosity in dealing with them as an integral part of the Drama and Performance Studies department.
